In the days when racing cars competed in their national colours, no marque wore the blue of France more proudly and successfully than Bugatti. At its factory in Molsheim – in the Alsace region near the German border – the company conceived and built Grand Prix and sports cars during the 1920s and ’30s that won everywhere from Monaco to the Targa Florio and Le Mans.

Many of those designs are still among the most coveted of all pre-war racing cars, and they were driven by homegrown talent such as Jean-Pierre Wimille, Robert Benoist, René Dreyfus and Pierre Veyron, plus Monegasque ace Louis Chiron.

It’s little wonder that Bugatti has often evoked that illustrious history in recent years – first in 2005, when it named its new hypercar the Veyron, then again in 2016 with the launch of the Chiron. Three years after that, the French firm unveiled the Chiron Sport ‘110 Ans Bugatti’ – only 20 of which were built in celebration of the marque’s 110th anniversary.

Based on the lighter, sharper-handling Chiron Sport, this limited-edition model is powered by an 8-litre, quad-turbo W16 engine producing almost 1,500bhp – enough to propel it from 0-100kph in 2.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 420kph.

Everywhere you look are tributes to Bugatti’s Gallic heritage. Finished in a combination of matt Steel Blue paint and exposed Steel Blue carbon, it features the famous French tricolour flag on the door mirrors, the underside of the rear wing, and the aluminium filler cap, which is sandblasted and hand-polished.

The brake callipers are French racing blue, and the Sky View roof, which was an option on the Chiron, is a standard feature on the ‘110 Ans Bugatti’. The patriotic theme continues inside, where tricolour highlights can be found not only on the Deep Blue seats, but also the carbon fibre and leather steering wheel – plus a specially crafted solid-silver medallion in the centre console.

This Chiron Sport ‘110 Ans Bugatti’ is being offered from single ownership and having covered only 8,123km from new. It comes with a Passport Tranquillité service programme valid until 2027, and is Swiss registered with all taxes paid.

The Chiron is a landmark hypercar in all its forms, but this ‘110 Ans Bugatti’ represents a very rare opportunity to acquire a highly collectable limited edition that honours the marque’s long and distinguished history.
