Fiskens supports wakeboard star Connor Jones

Kensington-based classic car dealership Fiskens has teamed up with local rising wakeboard star Connor Jones as he prepares for an assault on the European championships this month.

Connor will be heading to Bolsa in Turkey as one of the favourites to clinch gold after taking a bronze medal home from the World
Championships in Russia in September. His points haul also helped secure the men’s Great Britain team a bronze overall.

The two medals have contributed to what has so far been an impressive season for the 15 year-old who also successfully retained the British title he won in 2007.

Wakeboarding first appeared in the late 1980s and is a mix of snowboarding, surfing and water skiing. Just like the latter, riders are toed behind a motorboat and must perform a series of acrobatic tricks to score points.

“To have a sponsor like Fiskens means so much to me,” said Connor. “Their support has helped a lot. The European’s are only two weeks away and I’m training really hard at the moment. Me and the team will be going all out for the gold.”

Company Chief Executive Gregor Fisken has been impressed with Connor's progress in 2008. “Helping the local community’s rising stars is something we feel proud to be a part of," he said. "Connor’s achievements in Turkey justify his billing as one of the brightest young lights in British watersports and we’re hopeful that he can continue his success at the European championships.”  

Connor begins his European Championship campaign on October 17th.
