Fiskens celebrates a busy summer on and off track

Fiskens, unquestionably one of the world’s leading specialists in fine historic automobiles, has enjoyed a spectacular and eventful September on and off-track.

Kicking things off, and celebrating Her Majesty’s birthday in style, Gregor, who is a proud member of the Royal Concours Steering Committee alongside a respected team of authoritative historic car experts, showcased his personal and recently restored 1929 Bentley 4.5 Litre Short Chassis Vanden Plas Open Sports Tourer aka 'Shortie' at the Concours of Elegance. ‘Shortie’ was inundated with compliments following the recovering of it’s body in Rexine by Graham and his team at RC Moss.

Not to be outdone away from the show lawn, and forming a part of the concours’ Specialist Showcase, Fiskens also displayed a matching-numbers 1925 Vauxhall 30/98 OE Velox with original body alongside an ex-Works prototype 1964 Ford GT40 development car. Unsurprisingly the Ford caught the attention of many enthusiasts, as it is not only the first GT40 to be fitted with a 289 Cobra engine, but a car that raced at the Reims 12-Hours, Daytona 24-Hours, as well as the 12 Hours of Sebring. A true piece of motorsport history, and a stunning centerpiece of the Fiskens stand.

Heading from Windsor to West Sussex, the team returned to enjoy another of the season’s highlights, the Goodwood Revival. But being there as spectators has never been the Fiskens way, and both Gregor and Rory brought their considerable ability to the on-track action over the weekend. Gregor raced a Jaguar E-Type against a tough field in the Kinrara Trophy, while also achieving a fine fourth-place in the Freddie March Memorial Trophy driving a stunning ex-works prototype Maserati 200S. Not to be outdone, Rory raced the mighty family-owned AC Cobra in the RAC TT Celebration race, and of course, the Fiskens J40 pedal car was also well campaigned over the weekend by some hard pedaling drivers in the Settrington Cup!

Goodwood isn’t the only incredible historic race meeting taking place in September, as it’s also the month of the legendary Spa Six-hour race, an endurance classic on the notoriously challenging Ardenne circuit. Racing a GT40, Rory battled hard to finish an outstanding eighth overall from a grid of 110 cars.

And finally, it won’t be long until our new, state-of-the-art showroom in Queens Gate Place Mews is revealed in all its glory. It’s very nearly ready, and the team is looking forward to welcoming clients to consign cars to the stunning new premises, and to help toast the new showroom’s opening. There are very exciting - and stylish - times ahead…

With no two negotiations ever being the same, Fiskens's diverse knowledge and experience means there has never been a better time to consign - and all for one single commission.
