1964 AC Cobra

Chassis COB 6041, a 289 with a very impressive international period competition history, was sold new to Patrick McNally in 1964. This very interesting example was upgraded for endurance events by Alan Mann Racing (who were running the works Shelby Team in the World Sports Car Championship) 6041, fitted with a works engine, gearbox and brakes competed as part of the Team at Rossfeld in 1965 earning points for the Championship. McNally continued to race throughout the 1965 season at events including Castle Combe, Silverstone, Zandvoort and Brands Hatch.

Second owner Gerry Tyack, an experienced sprinter and hillclimber, set the official FIA World 500 Metre and ¼ Mile records in October 1966. From 1967, 6041 was raced throughout Europe by Nick Granville-Smith including podium finishes at both the 1000kms of Nurburgring and the 500kms of Mugello.

The Cobra has continued to be raced and enjoyed up to the present day with 6041 running with great success at the Goodwood Revival Meeting each year and the Gentleman Drivers Series. Complete with the aerodynamic hard top, 6041 has of course current FIA papers and a very extensive history file. Maintained meticulously by RW Racing Services, this is a superb and highly eligible example.
